Type Indicator
Working better together by exploring
personality preferences
|
Why do you do things this way? It is always interesting to find out how personality type affects behaviors. This simple assessment helps you gain a better understanding of yourself and how you relate to others, process information and plan your action.
The Type Indicator offers a positive approach of personality differences and reveals unique characteristics about each of us. It shows how they influence our style of communicating and interacting with coworkers, supervisors, customers, direct reports, peers, family members and more.
Based on Carl Jung's theory of psychological type, the assessment determines your preferences on four preferences. The various combinations of them result in 16 personality types.
Whether you are an individual interest in enhancing your people skills or a team leader or manager desiring to improve your overall effectiveness, the Type Indicator is a valuable tool. You do NOT need to be certified to use or run the instrument in class.
Learning Outcomes
- Understand how personality affects self-expression, decision-making, problem solving, and action planning.
- Develop and practice interpersonal skills to interact with anyone and avoid tension or conflict.
- Understand and appreciate the advantages of each type inside the team.
- Engage in and develop more successful relationships.
Why is communication important?
1) Communication is a way to send someone a message with words, body or facial expressions that will be received and understood. Unfortunately, our style can be misinterpreted, particularly when there is tension or conflict, and have a counter-productive effect.
2) We usually behave differently from one environment, setting, or relationship to another so it is helpful to examine our full range of styles (in professional and personal lives). Understanding how we and others may change from one setting to another helps us focus on ways to flex our style.
3) It is important to focus on our strengths and to take advantage of them to communicate better.
4) Communication is easy and simple when we also know what the other person's style is. We can adapt our style and communicate in a manner other are most receptive to.
The 4 Personality Scales
• Extroverted/Introverted: How you orient and receive your energy.
• Sensing/Intuitive: How you process information.
• Thinking/Feeling: How you make decisions.
• Judging/Perceiving: How you plan and organize your actions.
