Alexander Hiam

For more than 14 years, Alexander Hiam has been a successful manager, speaker, consultant, educator, and writer who dedicates his professional life to sharing valuable management techniques. He has lectured in MBA programs at Western New England College and American International College and was on the faculty of the School of Business at U. Mass Amherst for five years as a visiting professor.

He also has trained hundreds of government employees for the City of New York and Calgary, the U.C. Coast Guard and other organizations, and also shares his knowledge and experience as a keynote speaker at various business functions across the country. Mr. Hiam speaks frequently to professional audiences in many industries and throughout the country and has also appeared at several national conferences and T.V. shows to speak about his work and his publications.

He contributed to magazines such as the Harvard Business Review, and wrote his first book, The Vest-Pocket CEO: Decision-Making Tools for Executives. He worked with Ken Blanchard, Bob Nelson and Roy Lewicky, and was interviewed by the New York Post, USA Today, Training & Development Magazine, Futurist, and the LA Times.

Consulting Experience

1985-Present            Planning, business development, employee assessment and training, research, funding, product development and other tasks for clients including Coca Cola, HeathEast, The Vermont Country Store, Spalding Sports Worldwide, Kellogg’s, Texas Instruments. Clients have included small as well as large businesses and a variety of industries, including many high-tech startups.

Corporate Training Experience

1994-Present            Founded and runs a corporate training firm with two main lines of business:

Training Events: Design and deliver training programs and workshops for government and industry clients. Topics covered include leadership, motivational management, conflict management, creativity and innovation, negotiation, technology licensing, sales and marketing. Sectors covered include government, high tech, financial services, health care and manufacturing.

Training Products: Design, develop, produce and market a line of approximately 100 products for use by trainers and professors, including books and booklets, assessments and exercises, cases, and educational games.

Communications Experience

Skilled in public speaking and writing (please see list of books) and facilitate small groups for problem solving, conflict/negotiation, planning, and idea-generating sessions.

Speak frequently to business groups and audiences of all sizes, from national conventions to local professional associations (video available upon request). Have taught classes in traditional academic settings as well as in a range of corporate universities and workshop formats. Have taught corporate communications and provided coaching and guidance to other trainers and managers.

Formal planning and analysis skills include experience in writing and analyzing business plans. Have also prepared research reports for The Conference Board and various consulting firms.

Have designed software interfaces for self-study and education markets, including a multi-module course on leadership in business settings.
